A Journey of Family, Memory and Love
Dear You — Charity Movie Screening
On 29 June, 2026
Bringing the Community Together
On 29 June 2026, the Asia Education Society, together with Peggy Lee, Wan Chai District Councillor, Sam Ng, Wan Chai District Councillor, the Wan Chai District Charitable Care for the Elderly Association, the Wan Chai District Women’s Association Limited and other community partners, organised a charity screening of Dear You at Emperor Cinemas Times Square. With the support and coordination of Councillor Peggy Lee, who brought together the participating organisations and community partners, the event welcomed 179 elderly and community participants for a meaningful morning of film, culture and connection.
Across Generations and Borders
Dear You tells the story of a grandson from a Teochew family who travels to Thailand in search of his grandfather, with letters and historical correspondence serving as a narrative thread. Through themes of family, migration, memories and friendship, the film explores the enduring bonds between generations and the cultural heritage that connects people across places and time.
Moments That Stay With Us
For many of our senior participants, the film offered more than entertainment. Its themes of family, memories, heritage and companionship resonated deeply, evoking personal recollections and creating moments of laughter, emotion and reflection. Bringing 179 members of the community together also provided a valuable opportunity for people to connect through a shared cultural experience and strengthen intergenerational bonds.
At Asia Education Society, we believe that community engagement is an important part of learning and social development. By bringing people together through film and cultural experiences, we hope to create opportunities for seniors, families and younger generations to share memories, appreciate our cultural heritage and build meaningful connections within the community.
